Med-Mizer ActiveCare SafeTurn Fixed Height Rotating Hospital Bed for Home - Electric Sit to Stand Chair Bed
Who it's for
The SafeTurn rotates from a bed into a chair, so the person ends up seated on the edge with feet on the floor before they stand.
Getting up on their own
One-button SafeTurn exit turns the bed into a chair, so standing starts from a seated position instead of a twist and pull.
Caregivers helping with transfers
The bed does the turning to the seated position, so a caregiver is not lifting and pivoting the person out of bed.
When falls are a concern
A low 12.5" deck height. Optional pivoting quarter rails and a mobility bar give something to hold during the exit.
Pressure care
A Deluxe Pressure Redistribution mattress is included, with upgrade options if more support is needed.
Spending much of the day in bed
Sit up fully in chair position to eat, read or visit. RollBack raises the head up to about 90°.
Aging in place at home
A home-care bed made to order in the USA, rated to a 600 lb safe working load including mattress and bedding.
Is it right for you?
It is a good fit if most of these are true.
- Getting in or out of bed is the hard part, or the moment a fall is most likely.
- There is about three feet of clear floor on the side the bed will exit from.
- The person, mattress and bedding together are under 600 lb.
- You are paying privately (HSA/FSA and Klarna financing work; insurance and Medicare do not).
- You can allow 1–3 weeks for a bed built to order. Custom beds are final sale except for defects.

Med-Mizer ActiveCare SafeTurn, Fixed Height
The Med-Mizer ActiveCare SafeTurn is a rotating sit-to-stand hospital bed for the home. At the press of one button the sleep surface pivots and folds into a chair, so the person gets out of bed facing forward with their feet on the floor instead of being lifted or pulled across a mattress. Built to order in the USA, with a 600 lb safe working load, and includes a pressure-redistribution mattress. This fixed height model runs $3,716 to $6,629.

- Widths36" or 42"
- Lengths80" or 84"

- DeliveryMade to order, 1–3 weeks
Med-Mizer rates this bed to a 600 lb safe working load, which counts the mattress and bedding along with the person. A therapeutic air mattress can weigh 30 to 60 lb, so if the person is near 550 lb please call before ordering and we will check the numbers with you.
First, pick the right model
There are two ActiveCare SafeTurn beds. They look alike. The difference is whether the whole bed raises and lowers.
Fixed Height
From $3,716
The deck stays at one height, chosen when the bed is built. Head and foot sections still raise and lower, and it still turns into a chair.
Choose this if the person gets in and out mostly on their own, and no caregiver needs to raise the bed to work at a comfortable height.
You are hereAdjustable Height
From $9,268
The entire deck raises from 12.5" to 27.5". Drops low for safe standing, rises so a caregiver is not bending over.
Choose this if a caregiver helps regularly, falls are a concern, or a transfer aid such as a lift is used.

How the SafeTurn exit works
- Press one button. The upper section of the mattress rotates toward the side of the bed.
- The deck folds into a chair. The person ends up seated upright, facing out, feet toward the floor.
- Stand or transfer. Seat depth is 20 inches, so it behaves like standing from an armchair rather than climbing out of a bed.
Most bed-related injuries, for the person and the caregiver both, happen during the transfer rather than during sleep. Removing the twist-and-pull motion removes the moment where things go wrong.

Questions people ask before ordering
Will insurance or Medicare pay for this?
No. NewLeaf is private pay only and does not bill insurance or Medicare. Medicare covers basic semi-electric hospital beds through contracted suppliers; it does not cover rotating sit-to-stand beds. Many buyers use an HSA or FSA card, or Klarna financing.
How long until it arrives?
Built to order in the USA. Manufacturing takes 5 to 7 business days, freight adds 3 to 5. In-home setup adds another 3 to 5. Budget two to three weeks door to door.
Does someone set it up, or does it arrive in a box?
Standard delivery is curbside. The carrier calls ahead to schedule and brings it to your door or driveway; they do not unbox it or carry it inside. In-home setup, with or without removal of an existing bed, can be added at checkout.
Can it be returned if it does not work out?
No. Because every bed is built to your width, length, mattress and exit side, sales are final except for manufacturer defects, freight damage, or warranty claims. This is exactly why we would rather you call first.
Which side should the bed exit from?
Whichever side has clear floor space, about three feet of it. The pivot is set at the factory when the bed is built. It can be moved to the other side afterwards, but that takes a service technician rather than a switch you can flip, so it is worth walking the room before ordering. If you are unsure, call and we will talk through the layout.
How much weight can it really take?
Med-Mizer rates the bed to a 600 lb safe working load. That figure covers everything resting on the deck, so the mattress and bedding come out of it before the person does. A pressure-redistribution mattress is light, but a therapeutic air surface can add 30 to 60 lb. If the person is somewhere near 550 lb, call us and we will work out the real margin with you rather than guess.
What sheets fit a bed that folds into a chair?
Two fitted sheets rather than one, because the mattress is divided. The top sheet is 64" long with a built-in pillow pocket so the pillow does not slide when the bed rotates; the lower sheet is 16" long. Your first set is free.
Fixed or Adjustable. Which do most people buy?
If a caregiver is involved daily, Adjustable, because raising the deck protects the caregiver's back and that is what causes injuries over time. If the person is largely independent and the goal is a safer way to get up, Fixed does the same SafeTurn exit for roughly a third of the price. One thing to know: the Fixed model's height is chosen once, at build, so picking it low for fall safety means giving up caregiver working height permanently, and the other way round.
Is a 42" bed too big for a normal bedroom?
A 42" bed takes about the footprint of a standard single plus four inches. The real constraint is clearance on the exit side, since the bed rotates outward. Leave about three feet there.
