4 quick fixes to try first
Moog's troubleshooting guide suggests:
- Check the setup. Formula should be at the right temperature. Foamy formula should sit 10–15 minutes. For blended formula, follow its maker's directions.
- Check the tubing isn't kinked or pinched.
- Clean the pump properly, and let it dry completely before turning it on.
- Turn the pump off and on again.
Infinity alarm and error code guide
Summarized from Moog's Infinity Troubleshooting Guide. Always disconnect the person before priming.
| Screen says | What it means | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| NO FLOW IN | A blockage in the tubing between the bag and the pump. | Check the tubing for kinks or pinches. Remove the set and clean the cassette. Gently massage the tubing at the drop symbol and prime by hand until formula moves, then reload. Clean around the pressure sensors. Check that the door and latch aren't cracked. |
| NO FLOW OUT | A blockage between the pump and the person. | Check the feeding tube and extension for a kink or clog. Follow the formula maker's directions for pump use. Do not use the PRIME key to clear this alarm. |
| NO FOOD | Air in the tubing, often an empty bag or foamy formula. | Check there is enough formula in the bag. If it was shaken hard, let it rest 10–15 minutes to reduce foam. Re-prime to remove air, with the person disconnected. |
| LOAD SET | Run was pressed without a set loaded correctly. | Turn the pump off. Clean the cassette and the area around the pressure sensors. Turn on, reload the set and close the door all the way. |
| ER01 – ER99 | The pump failed a self-test (continuous beep, “ER” plus a number). | Turn the pump off and on again, check that all settings (rate, dose) are still correct, then restart the feed. If the code comes back, call Moog. |
| Won't charge | Charger or connection problem. | Check both ends of the charger. The green light on the wall plug should be on. If not, test the outlet with another device. Look for bent or missing pins. |
About ER error codes
Per Moog, an “ER” code means the pump's built-in safety self-test found a problem. Moog gives a few examples of common causes:
- ER10: can happen if the pump is still wet when the set is loaded, so the tubing slips. Dry the pump fully.
- ER40: can happen if the on/off button is held down too long when turning on (read as a stuck key).
- ER04: can happen if the pump got too hot or too cold. Store it at room conditions.
For any ER code: turn the pump off and on, check your settings, and call Moog if it comes back. (Moog: Error codes on Infinity feeding pumps)
Tips that prevent alarms
- Change the bag every 24 hours. Moog says older bags commonly trigger NO FOOD and NO FLOW alarms.
- Keep the cap on when the bag isn't in use, and store bags away from heat and sunlight.
- Using a backpack? Remove all air from the bag and tubing first (see Moog's guide for the hand-priming steps).
- If the door or case is cracked, contact Moog.
- How old is my pump? Per Moog, the 2nd and 3rd digits after “SN(21)” on the serial number show the year it was made.
