Description
The Protekt Aire 6500 alternating pressure with low air loss mattress system is designed to prevent and treat pressure ulcers from Stage I through IV. The 36"W x 80"L x 10"H offers a thicker 10" height compared to its sister product, the Aire 6000. The mattress also features a Dual Compressor capable of 18 LPM (liters per minute) of air flow, and a higher weight capacity of 660 lbs. Additional features include a Cell-On-Cell construction that prevents patient bottoming out in the event of a power failure, 4 Cycle Time options of 10, 15, 20 & 25 minutes to customize the alternating pressure therapy, Static Mode, and more.
An added feature of the Aire 6500 system is its "Fowler" mode (similar to the function of an Auto Fowler on some mattresses), which can be activated manually at the control pump to push additional air to the center of the mattress to help prevent the user from "bottoming out"—a phenomenon that can take place with foam or air constructed mattresses when the head section is articulated (inclined) beyond a certain point (around 30-degrees or more) due to the user's upper body weight gravitational shift downward to their buttocks region. The manual fowler feature allows the head section to be articulated at any degree without disengaging the Alternating Pressure feature, compared to mattresses that feature an Auto fowler in which AP mode is automatically turned off.
